Greenwood

Greenwood, South Dakota was the seat of the Yankton Sioux Agency.  It is located along the Missouri River. 
It was established by the U.S. Government for the Yankton Sioux Indians in 1858 and established in 1859 as the Yankton Sioux Reservation. 
Greenwood became a "boom town." In 1859 the population was 231. When it peaked years later there 400 citizens in Greenwood. In 1913 through 1930 Greenwood was nicknamed "Old Ladies Town."
